Penelope Kerr (Penny)
Occupational Health Nurse
Penny Kerr what is your role at TriEx? I have been employed as an Occupational Health Practitioner at TriEx for the past 19 years working on a casual basis. I am as happy in my work now as I was when I started at TriEx. My favourite time of the year is the ‘flu season when I visit companies administering ‘flu vaccines. Once a month I visit companies doing blood tests for lead levels and other checks-this is great too because it’s hands on and nursey! I like the practical scene and the clients like the lollipops!
What does it mean that you do and what do you love the most about that? I love being a nurse because of the enjoyment I get out of helping others. I could write a book about all the wonderful people I meet and all the stories they tell me. TriEx offers me a great variety of work situations. It is great to be out and about in the community and a privilege to meet the clients at their workplace. I have built up many friendships with the clients over the years.
In addition to work how do you like to invest your time? I am married to Graeme and we are lucky to have 2 lovely girls, Sarah(22) and Emily(19). I love to revolve my life around them and all our friends, including spending precious time with my elderly parents. I love to get up early every day and look forward to The Press, Vogels with vegemite and coffee. I like to walk every day and really enjoy reading, especially cookery books and updating on health issues both of which I can now do on my new cool phone! I try to squeeze as much as I can into the daylight hours including making people happy.
What ten words/values/activities help describe you and your life? Family, Friendship, Food and Entertaining including Food TV, Healthy Lifestyle, Walking, Water-Skiing, Travel, Sunshine and warmth, Growing an edible garden, Keeping people happy and well.
